How "sea" is defined here
Each named sea is defined by a simple latitude and longitude area. That's deliberately rough, since coastlines are messy and many places sit at the boundary of one sea and another. Where it matters, marginal seas are included with their parent (for example, the Gulf of California sits inside the Pacific). Numbers are simple averages of every coastal point inside the area, weighted equally per location.
