A word on what counts as a beach

We don't have a separate beach taxonomy. This ranking filters our full coastal database to locations whose name contains a beach-equivalent word. That means a place called "Long Bay" is in, but a famous beach without "beach" in its name might be missing. If you want a specific location, search for it from the sidebar. Every coastal location has its own page with the same data.
